Abstract

This guide translates the legal and technical requirements of the recent changes to the Federal Labor Law and the provisions regarding standing work, providing an implementation roadmap for employers, workers' representatives, safety and hygiene committees, occupational safety and health services, occupational physicians, ergonomists, and human resources managers. The document applies to positions where workers perform tasks while standing during their workday, in the service sector, commerce, similar workplaces, and industrial establishments, when the nature of the work allows it. The legal reform mandates the provision of seats or chairs with backrests and prohibits forcing workers to remain standing for the entire workday without the possibility of sitting down periodically.
