Abstract

Introduction: Falls in industrial settings represent a significant external cause of workplace accidents. The Mexican Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) reported 394,202 accidents in Mexico, of which 106,728 were falls, many from heights greater than 1.8 m (STPS, 2023). Worldwide, falls result in 684,000 deaths annually, making them the second leading cause of injury. In 2020, the United States recorded 805 deaths and more than 211,000 serious injuries due to falls, particularly in the construction sector. Method: A comprehensive review of the patient's medical history and laboratory tests was conducted, and the case was followed until the completion of medical, surgical, and rehabilitation treatment. Results: This case describes a fall suffered by a worker on rotating shifts at his rest area, which resulted in a cervical injury and permanent disability.
