N2 - Introduction.This article analyzes the professional stress of human capital in the health field in critical areas, emergency areas, and the intensive care unit, taking on a special connotation due to the psychophysiological demands implicit in the profession, cognitive, quantitative, emotional, and high responsibility. Methods. A descriptive, quantitative cross-sectional research method is used. 53 health workers from a public hospital in Guayaquil were surveyed. Batteries for the evaluation of intra- and extra-employment psychosocial risk factors of the Ministry of Social Protection of the Republic of Colombia, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire were used. Results. The most frequent psychosocial risk factors were the margin of action and control; recovery and working conditions (58%). As for Burnout Syndrome, medical care personnel have high frequencies of Depersonalization at 28% and Emotional Fatigue at 21%.
