Resumen

Introduction. This paper aims to establish and refine a comprehensive theoretical orientation to generate broader and more representative knowledge in occupational health research on family farming (FF). The objective is to use a qualitative approach, integrating social perception and a gender perspective, to understand and connect various theoretical orientations in occupational health. This includes exploring categories such as work trajectories and conditions, social security, work organization, and agricultural worker health. Method: The methodology reflects on integrating philosophical positions, such as idealism and social constructionism, to understand the multidimensionality of FF and to recognize the importance of lived experiences from a gender perspective. This approach seeks to strengthen transdisciplinary research and promote innovation and social impact, particularly for rural women in family farming organizations. Conclusions: conclusions highlight that occupational health research benefits from diverse theoretical and philosophical approaches, and underscore the need to innovate within agricultural research to generate real-world knowledge, appreciate the role of social construction in work trajectories, and promote rural women's leadership and well-being, especially by valuing ancestral knowledge in response to climate change affecting rural families
