The scarring effect and its impact on the physical and mental health of young people, a systematic review / El efecto cicatriz y su impacto en la salud física y mental de los jóvenes, una revisión sistemática

Resumen

Introduction: The scarring effect occurs as a result of employment experiences, where early experiences of job insecurity or unemployment produce scarring that has implications for physical and mental health. The objective of this study was to carry out a systematic review of the impact on the physical, mental and social health of the scarring effect.
Material and methods: The PRISMA method was used, analyzing 4 Redalyc, EBSCO, Emerald, and Scopus databases.
Results: 93 studies indicate the impact of early work experiences on physical, mental, and social health, such as intentional violence, suicide, blood pressure, substance abuse, anguish, depression, anxiety, psychosomatic symptoms, subjective well-being, and self-esteem. Conclusions: The articles found effects on physical and mental health. There is a lack of studies that address this phenomenon from psychology and health, so this article allows us to account for the importance of addressing the health-disease aspects that this effect causes in the quality of life of young people.
