Relationship between stress-causing vital events and socio-labor data in nursing staff / Relación entre sucesos vitales causantes de estrés y datos sociolaborales en personal de enfermería
Abstract
Introduction: From the perspective of stress exposure, it is based on the basic idea that the accumulation of stressful vital events (VE) is related to the onset of symptoms.
Objective: To determine the relationship between stress-causing life events (SVs) and socio-labor data in nurses.
Method: Quantitative statistics, type of descriptive, transversal and correlal study, with a sample of 80 nurses, sampling by consecutive cases; a questionnaire was applied for the socio-labor variables and the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale or Social Readjustment. The analysis of the data was through descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: The predominant age group was 35 to 40 years. In the areas of home/family and health, 5% of staff have mild stress crises respectively.
Discussion and conclusions: The areas of home/family and health of stress-causing SVs relate statically to the age, marital status, roles it performs, work age, and monthly family income of nursing staff.
