Sequelae of a worker with tracheostomy and Montgomery cannula: case report / Secuelas de un trabajador con traqueostomía y cánula de Montgomery: reporte de caso
Abstract
El término traqueostomía describe un procedimiento que incluye la incisión en la pared traqueal anterior y la exteriorización de la tráquea hasta la piel cervical, ocasionando una fístula o estoma. Pueden ser electivas o terapéuticas; todas en general para aliviar obstrucciones fijas de la vía aérea superior, mantenerla permeable y preservar la función de fonación. La traqueostomía es uno de los procedimientos más comúnmente realizados en el paciente crítico. Actualmente, la mayoría de las traqueostomías se realizan por intubación prolongada y no por obstrucción. El tubo en T o cánula de Montgomery es utilizado en las estenosis laríngeas o traqueales, como la estenosis subglótica, con la finalidad de contribuir a la estabilización de la estructura de la laringe y evitar nuevas estenosis.
El objetivo principal de este reporte de caso es brindar información sobre las posibles complicaciones de la traqueostomía con cánula de Montgomery que pudieran condicionar una limitación para realizar actividades tanto de la vida diaria como laboral.
