Musculoskeletal disorders and postural risk in workers of a primary care clinic / Trastornos musculoesqueléticos y riesgo postural en trabajadores de una clínica de primer nivel de atención
Abstract
Objective: to evaluate the association between musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and postural risk in workers at a primary care clinic. Method. A cross-sectional, analytical study was conducted on 170 workers in the medical and administrative areas. The Nordic Questionnaire was used to detect MSDs and postural risk was evaluated with the REBA Method. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis was conducted using Pearson's Chi-square test. Results. From the 170 individuals studied, a significant association between a higher incidence of MSDs in the lower back and the postural risk was observed. Likewise, a significant association between work variables (posture, work area, work category, schedule, and day) and a higher incidence of MSDs in the lower back. Conclusion. There is an association between MSDs and postural risk. It is necessary to implement engineering and administrative preventive controls.
