Resumen

Introduction: Preventing industrial accidents is crucial for both the company and the workers involved. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the costs and related factors.


Objective: This investigation aimed to determine the economic cost of labor accidents in a company that produces meat products in Chihuahua, Mexico.


Methods: In October 2024, we analyzed 93 labor accidents that resulted in days of incapacity within the meat production facility. The collected data included the shift, the area where the accident occurred, the sex of the worker, and the anatomical location of the injury.


Results: The average cost per accident was found to be 16,884.51 pesos, resulting in over 2,000 days of absence. Overall, more men were injured than women. C


onclusions: The costs associated with major accidents impose both direct and indirect financial burdens, highlighting the importance of occupational safety and the need for preventive strategies
