Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Computer Vision Syndrome Symptom Scale (CVSS17) among Administrative Staff / Adaptación cultural y validación de la Escala de Síntomas de Visión por Computadora (CVSS17) en Personal Administrativo

Resumen

Objective: The objective of this study was to demonstrate the cultural adaptation and validation of the Computer Vision Syndrome Symptom Scale (CVSS17) among office administrative staff from three university centers in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Materials and Methods: This quantitative study, with a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, non-experimental design, included two phases: cultural adaptation through expert judgment (n=10) and instrument validation with a sample of 37 participants. Results: Content validity was assessed using Aiken’s V index, yielding values between 0.87 and 1.00, indicating a high level of agreement among the judges. The internal consistency of the scale, determined through Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, was 0.878, demonstrating adequate reliability. Conclusions: The findings support that the culturally adapted version of the CVSS17 is valid and reliable for use in the Mexican population and represents a useful tool for identifying Computer Vision Syndrome in workplace settings.
