Resumen

The purpose of this article is to discuss the occupational medical management of contact dermatitis related to work. Occupational contact dermatitis is considered one of the most common occupational diseases in many countries. This condition primarily affects workers who are exposed to chemicals, water, detergents, and other irritants, and it is particularly prevalent among women in occupations such as cleaning and sweeping.
The pathology of this condition is associated with environmental, occupational, and individual factors, with work involving humidity being the primary cause. This is characterized by prolonged contact with liquids or frequent use of occlusive gloves. The hands are the most affected area, and the most common clinical presentation is irritative dermatitis, which occurs more frequently than allergic dermatitis in both occupational and non-occupational settings. As a result, epidemiological data underscore its significance as a public health and occupational health issue (Milam & Banta E, 2020).
